A very unique antique Moroccan Aït Bou Ichaouen carpet with a beautifully deep and varied pattern and complex design story. This composition is a skillful interpretation of a classic lozenge or diamond grid. Within and around this there are a host of Berber motifs, including crosses, shields, and hatched diamonds. The palette includes time-faded dark aubergine, mauve, plum, charcoal, green, and mustard. The pile is in good condition: with wear and low pile in some areas and with a few areas of repair, which do not detract from the overall condition. 100% fine wool, with flat weave areas at both ends and fine saw tooth selvedges
