From north-central of Morocco, this highly authentic rug features the soft cream wool of the Azilal region, but also some stunning variations. The motifs seem to tell a story, starting with an area of simple lozenges, that move into what appears to be tagines atop a fire. Finally, graphic abstract symbols, which are hard to interpret and perhaps deeply personal to the weaver, complete the narrative. Woven on a cotton base, the wool pile is soft and there are some visible colour runs
