Originally woven as a large soft sleeping rug, this deep maroon Berber carpet hosts a wide array of striking and authentic tribal symbols and motifs, based on an overall design that meanders through the carpet from one end to the other like a flowing river. Dating from about the 1970s it is woven in beautiful hand-spun wool, with some symbols woven with little splashes of brightly coloured cotton. It is in good vintage condition and is finished with a lovely hand-plaited fringe, and has a few small restorations that are visible on the back of the rug
