Mid Century Selham (Berber Cape)
Mid Century Selham (Berber Cape)
An important part of Moroccan traditional rural dress was a pure wool garment that wrapped around a man’s body with a simple join at the neck and a large, capacious hood. This original man’s Selham dates from the mid-century and was created in a soft deep russet wool. Cotton and silky braiding joins the garment and the neck and decorates it through to the back of the hood. This garment represents a time when all domestic clothing was home-produced. In original mid-century condition, this rare garment is intact with wear, with some very small holes and simple fading. In fact, in line with what a genuine mid-century rural covering should look and feel like
