This beautiful and original circa 1970s Chiadma carpet is from the region east of Safi and Essaouira in central Morocco. It exhibits a lively spirit with the exuberant use of warm tangerine and blood orange with a harlequin-like composition of chevron motifs and a central lozenge symbol. The gorgeous design is bordered by 'male' motif chains that accentuate the long proportions of the rug, likely woven for tent use in 100% pure soft wool. There is some nibbling in the fringe and at the other end, and there are some marks on the back along with some subtle marks on the face - very much normal for a genuine old carpet
