An extraordinary and rare large vintage carpet from the Azlal area of Morocco. The bold palette is an unusual touch for that region, and deep colour is used with abandon and joy. Timeless Berber lozenge motifs cluster together in the centre of the design while a seemingly abstract field of bright colours fill in the rest of this dazzling piece. It is in good condition with one small repair and some gentle colour transfer in places. Woven in mixed and man-made materials, typical of a time when weavers used what resources they could find
