Exceptionally rare, this monochrome rug is woven in silky velvet-like pure wool with a beautiful mid-century patina, and is from the South of Morocco. Originally a saturated warm mauve it has faded to a warm apricot-hued dusky pink. Traditional sawtooth edges border both sides, in dark goats wool which also forms the base of this unusual rug. With a modern bent, this is nevertheless an exquisite piece created in an age when these grand family rugs took pride of place in a Berber home. There are a number of original repairs that are mainly only visible on the back of the rug, and some slight discoloration at one end
